BAGAMOYO

The town of Bagamoya was the last rest for Livingstones body in Africa, before shipped back to England . Magnificent Church for Christianity and celebrate his life in Africa in Memory.

The town is a small growing town. Elisme saw a advertisement in a Property booklet of a Development selling. Wonder how this works? Tanzania only has 99 year or less lease contracts? Prices sky-high from $400,000 for a 1 bedroom apartment and garage.

COFFEE TIME:
In the middle of nowhere, this spotless clean Restaurant comes up.
Coffee is served from a flask. Julia and Hans quickly realized: it's coffee BLACK or WHITE, no in-between ( coffee with milk).

Food in stainless steal pots - sealed as a pressure cooker. Wimcar tried his hand on a one-leg of a runaway chicken ( in this part of Africa you get these ones, very long legs and tough as can be...) Wimcar said it was eatable.

Four wash basins to wash hands before eating in the restaurant. The toilets were puzzling the girls..Nellie said her mother never taught her how to use them. Toilets only the eastern block way - must say...our culture finds this strange.

Belgian chocolate nin the little shop selling everything: clothes, groceries, crockery & cutlery, liquor and fruits.

Wimcar couldn't resist the Belgian Chocolates!!

5000 km On the clock from HOME....Suddenly we feel homesick today.

This wheel cover - Load Shedding in SA. Here they have a similar problem

One loooooong stretch of 298 km and little villages all the way. Speed limits of  only 50 km!!
Chris came on radio, saying his Landy wants to fall over constantly. Cant Mkulu go faster.
CHOICE: faster and a speed-fine of a standard fee of 30 000 shillings?

Tanga district, the turn of to PEPONI was a very narrow and dusty road.

Farming here gets active. We pasted a dairy farm, buildings not in a good condition. People are working on the rice-field. Young sisal patches planted.

A colorful farm stall ( Anton would have said: hulle het moeite gedoen..) This really invites you to shop, although they're not really selling a lot today.

Palm Trees came on the horizon, this is how we remember Peponi. Palm white sand and blue-water sea.

PEPONE: Our camping site for 2 nights. We need to sort our vehicles, saying goodbye to the coat line. Chris is now counting the days to enter the Game Parks. You can only realize how privilege you are. When night fall comes, Gods creation comes to rest. Moving to their homes.

Even the sea comes to peace, smooth as a mirror. We as a safari family just enjoyed the moment. Each one with his own thoughts, while our fire starts burning. Soon our pots will be simmering.

During the night the sea was making its own music, another instrument was heard, soft rain...
Our first on our trip. Just when brunch were getting on the way, a tropical storm made everybody ran. The tents was getting wet. Reading and sleeping was the days activities.
30 July we say our farewells to Pangani and Tanzania for now.
