Border Crossing To Kenya

85km of bad, wet road, taxi's, busses, bicycles and motor bikes - all trying to reach their destination.

We crossed a bridge, next to it was this
beautiful antique bridge. Evidence of a area long ago

Then our border crossing starts again. 5500 shillings (65$) for third party with a 2 hour struggle. The disc was filled in wrong - 3 times. Luckily 3'rd time lucky! Oooooooh and now he forgot the receipt. Hans refuse to go without his receipt.

Passport and immigration in Tanzania and Kenya, your photo and both hands finger prints is needed, only then you can get a stamp. This is only valid for 30 days - if you need it longer to stay in Kenya - you need a Visum ( even though you are from SA).

Three hours later and we are on our way to a Kenya beach resort - DIANI beach. The country side on our way to Diani beach were farming land of Sugar Cane. We passed a big refinery.

Diani beach is a quaint village - it reminds me of the Transkei - lots of stalls selling art and Kiko's ( that is their traditional clothing) - new shops with western clothes.

Finding a camp site is not easy, most of them doesn't operate anymore.Twiga bay camp site was recommended by an American who works in Diani beach.
Amazing views on the different shades of blue sea. Huge big trees, but the buildings all pray for attention.
Camp site...can't get closer to the beach...can it?

Relaxing on the beach with a drink...

31 JULY:
Relaxing and trying to charge our batteries was all we did Friday. Chris was getting a Pro with his drown..he took awesome pictures of our Twiga beach and our Camp site. Wimcar took the time to fix his Ford, strips coming loose - the roads taking there toll. The girls had a beauty session. Julia and Nellie did manicures and pedicures themselves.

Elisme supported a local beautician treatment on the beach. Just as good as a salon in Sandton, only they don't have the view or the Palm trees.

Hans took a motor bike taxi to Diani, sorting out the new rules of the park (card system to pay).

Prawns, crayfish and calamari was brought to us by Mohammed. Tonight will be a Seafood feast!!! Chris said we always need to protect our personal stuff - this time it's again the Monkeys.

Eddy gave us a demonstration of how to pick a Coconut and to slaughter it. Tonight I know whiskey with coconut juice will be the sun downer of choice.

Elisme's treat was a massage for Hans and herself. Mauritius was up-to-now their best massage ever but after today Twiga bay won in Kenya.

The boys said that we can stay till Monday..

Sunrise over our camp. This you'll get nowhere in the world.

Coffee time early in the morning - can you get closer to paradise?
Wi-Fi is now getting far and few. We'll try to go to Diani and try and get Wi-Fi tomorrow.
